MP3 Album Search Utility

The MP3 Album Search utility is ideal for when you have a very large music collection, organised in to directories or playlists (m3u).

This utility enables fast searching of MP3 albums to play with Winamp. When you wish to play an album, or a number of albums, this will provide a faster and easier alternative to MS Explorer and jukeboxes such as Winamp's Media Library.

When the application is run for the first time, a number of settings are required (such as the location of Winamp and your music collection), then the database of albums is created from the location(s) given. Each directory in the given locations is assumed to be an album, and the directory names are used for searching. You then have the option to supply similar locations, but this time containing m3u playlists.

Obviously it doesn't just work with albums. Any collections organised in to separate directories and playlists can be used, such as sorting music by artist, where each directory is the artist's name and contains music by that artist. In this case you would search for an artist and it could play all the music you have by the given artist.

When multiple matches are found, you are given a choice for selecting the correct ones. You also have the choice between playing the music or enqueuing it. When more directories are added, you may wish to update the database by refreshing. It can also be used as a simple search tool without playing anything, just by using the 'List' option at the start.

If you wish to just search for playlists, excluding directories, simple preceed your search with "PLS:", for example "PLS: rock".
